Αλμύρα - Almyra Greens
Almira Greek summer greens, served like chorta, plain with extra virgin olive oil and lemon.
It is a bush or small tree which grows near the shore. The name in greek means salty.
Ideally served with fish & seafood.
You can find it in the open vegetable greek markets and supermarkets during July and August.
Cut off the yellowish parts and long stalks.
Deep in freshwater and vinegar a couple of times to clean from sand and dust.
Bring water to boil in a pot, add the almira and cook for 10 minutes max.
Drain, let it cool, serve with extra virgin olive oil & lemon.
Try them before you add salt (remember, almira in greek means salty)

Καθαρίζετε και πλένετε την αλμύρα με νερό και λίγο ξίδι.
Μην προσθέσετε αλάτι, την βράζουμε για 10 λεπτά και σερβίρουμε με αγνό παρθένο ελαιόλαδο & λεμόνι.... Προσοχή στο αλάτι... δοκιμάστε τα πρώτα
