Besides wine production, the area has a rich farming tradition producing excellent quality dairy products, such as white and yellow cheeses made with fresh goat and sheep milk, velvet yogurt, and flavorful rice pudding.
This unique experience will start by picking you up from your hotel. Our tour starts with heading towards the airport and before crossing the the countryside of Mesogaia, we will stop at a well-known family-run dairy shop for brunch. Learn about the history of the family and enjoy a fresh rice pudding and a crispy piece of cheese pie.
We will cross by the beautiful countryside and make a short stop in a secret spot surrounded by various cultivations and charming chapels.
You will have the time to stretch in nature and taste "Moustokouloura", the traditional cookies of the region made with grape must.
Our final stop will be a well-known family-run winery of Mesogaia where you will have the chance to learn more about Greece’s winemaking history, explore the premises, and taste five different wine varieties accompanied by regional specialties.
Mesogaia
Mesogaia, which means “middle land”, is a large geographical region of East Attica- confined by the foothills of Mount Penteli and Mount Hymettus- is full of surprises and hidden treasures. Easily accessible from Athens, filled with fertile plains and crystal-clear beaches, the region surrounding Athens Airport — less than an hour’s drive from the city center offers lesser-known attractions and experiences that should be explored.
